Important facts

Invisalign Full is a modern, almost invisible, way to deal with misaligned teeth. While the option of conventional braces is available to you, Invisalign works to align your smile without impacting on your lifestyle. The lifestyle benefits of using Invisalign braces makes it an attractive option for many people who are seeking a smile that they love, without the inconvenience of traditional metal braces.

Invisalign Full works through the application of a series of clear aligners which differ slightly, each one working in partnership to move the teeth slowly into alignment.

In some cases, certain teeth may need attachments or little clear lumps which are glued to your teeth that help shift those teeth a bit more than others. These attachments are then removed after the treatment. In other cases, you may require teeth to be filed down a bit to make room in an overcrowded mouth. All treatments are discussed fully with you at every stage and are performed by our experienced, qualified and certified Invisalign providers.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a clear set of removable teeth liners which are used as an alternative to conventional metal braces. When comparing Invisalign to braces, there are a few clear benefits to using Invisalign instead of conventional metal braces, the most obvious of these being the cosmetic benefits of the aligners being almost invisible. As a result of Invisalign’s low profile, your alignment can be carried out without anyone needing to know. While the aligners need to be worn day and night, other benefits include the ability to remove the aligners when eating, brushing and flossing teeth.

What does the treatment consist of?

Your Invisalign Brisbane treatment will consist of a series of nearly invisible, removable aligners. These will need to be changed fortnightly. The aligners are individually manufactured for your teeth and your teeth only. Over time as each aligner is replaced, your teeth will move – little by little – ultimately until they have straightened to the final position prescribed by your dentist at Southside Family Dental.

Your Invisalign treatment will usually consist of around 18-36 various aligners which are used for anywhere from nine to 18 months. You will need to wear your aligners for a minimum of 21 hours a day.

In addition, a virtual treatment plan generated by Align Technology’s unique ClinCheck® software will show the movements of your teeth. This will enable you to see what your teeth are expected to look like at the end of the treatment.

Will it work for me?

Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment for overcrowded teeth, widely spaced teeth, misaligned teeth, crossbites, overbites, and underbites. A quick consultation with us at Southside Dental Group will give our dentists the opportunity to ensure Invisalign is the best possible treatment for you. Invisalign is a great way for you to transform your smile without impacting on your lifestyle. So if you’re ready for a smile that transforms, please call our dentists in Brisbane, Richlands, or Springfield to find out if Invisalign is right for you.

What is the treatment process?

The first step in the Invisalign treatment process is an initial consultation with your dentist. Once your dentist has established your eligibility for Invisalign and discussed what results you are hoping for, impressions will be taken of your teeth which will be sent to Invisalign laboratories. These impressions will then be computerised so that your dentist can plan and review the precise tooth movements during your personal treatment plan.

This consultation also gives you the opportunity to see imaging of your teeth before, during, and after your treatment. Once your dentist has developed your treatment plan, your aligners are custom made, and you wear these aligners for various periods of time before moving onto the next set.

All treatments are discussed fully at every stage, and we provide plenty of feedback about the process and how your alignment is progressing.

Benefits of using Invisalign

There are numerous benefits to using Invisalign braces when straightening your smile – namely that there’s little to no evidence that you’re even having orthodontic work done, thanks to the clear aligners. In addition to the minimal lifestyle impact of Invisalign, you can also:

  • Eat your favourite foods – thanks to the removable aligners
  • Keep your great oral health. Simply remove the aligners when you want to brush and floss, and then pop them back on
  • Stay active in your lifestyle. You can wear the smooth aligners while being active, without having to worry about sharp metal cutting into your mouth
  • Keep your smile picture perfect – just remove your Invisalign aligners for special pictures in special occasions

In addition to this, many patients report very little discomfort thanks to the gentle movement of Invisalign.
